Easy English Dictionary with Hindi & Urdu Meanings

Vengeance Meaning in Urdu

Vengeance is the act of punishing or hurting someone in return for an injury, pain, or wrong they have previously caused to you or your loved ones. In Urdu, the exact meaning of vengeance is “Intiqam” (انتقام) or “Badla” (بدلہ). It is a very strong, often negative emotional reaction where a person has a burning need to make someone else suffer simply because they themselves have suffered.

Throughout human history, literature, and movies, the concept of “Intiqam” is very common. When a hero’s family is hurt, the hero often goes on a long journey to seek payback against the villains. While it looks exciting in action movies, in real life, vengeance is a highly destructive feeling. It consumes a person’s peace of mind and stops them from moving forward. Understanding this powerful word helps us understand human psychology and the dark side of our emotions.

The Difference Between Vengeance and Justice

Many people confuse vengeance with justice (Insaaf). While both involve punishing someone for doing wrong, their roots and results are completely different.

Justice is based on fair rules, logic, and the law of a country. A judge in a courtroom gives a punishment to protect society, not out of personal anger. Vengeance, however, is deeply personal and highly emotional. It has no rules. When a person seeks vengeance, they do not care about fairness; they are only driven by a blind Desire to cause maximum pain. A harsh, cruel Dictator might use his power to take personal vengeance on his political enemies, punishing them without any fair trial or logical reason.

Why People Seek “Intiqam”

To understand this heavy word, we must look at why people fall into the trap of revenge.

(H3) The Fire of Youth and Anger

Human emotions are very difficult to control, especially during Adolescence (the teenage years). When young people feel insulted or betrayed by a friend, their reaction is often extreme. Because they are still learning how to process heavy emotions, they might think that taking “Badla” will fix their broken pride. They might use angry Rhetoric (harsh, aggressive speech) to threaten others, thinking that taking vengeance will make them look strong, when in reality, it only creates more problems.

The Feeling of a Heavy Burden

Sometimes, when someone harms our family or ruins our business, the pain feels like a dark Curse placed over our lives. The injured person feels that until they hurt their enemy back, they will never find peace. This creates a never-ending circle of hate. If person A takes vengeance on person B, then person B will want to take vengeance back. This cycle destroys families and sometimes even entire nations.

Choosing Peace Over Vengeance

As we discussed in the previous article, human beings have the amazing ability to Transcend (rise above) their basic, negative feelings.

The greatest display of true power is not taking revenge; it is giving forgiveness (Maafi). When you forgive someone who hurt you, you break the chain of hate. You free your own mind from the heavy burden of “Intiqam.” While vengeance might give you a few seconds of twisted satisfaction, forgiveness gives you an Eternal (everlasting) sense of peace and mental clarity. It allows you to move forward and focus on building a beautiful life instead of destroying someone else’s.
